Recipe:

- 30ml gin

- 30ml Cynar

- 22.5ml fresh lemon juice

- 15ml simple syrup

- 2 thin orange slices

Combine the gin, Cynar, lemon juice, simple syrup and orange slices in a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake vigorously until the drink is sufficiently chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

A very nice aperetif drink, taste-wise you can think of it as a Negroni in a sour variation. The bitter orange of the Campari used in a Negroni comes here with the fresh oranges incl. the peel, the Cynar gives the rest of the vegetal bitterness.

For a sour it is nicely complex, it balances the juniper, artichoke, herbs, citrus and zesty orange, overall semi-bitter with fine, fresh acidity.
