Sargasso
Recipe:
- 60ml Martinique VSOP rhum
- 22.5ml oloroso sherry
- 15ml Aperol
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
Stir everything on ice until sufficiently chilled, strain into a prechilled cocktail glass, garnish with a orange zest.
No long story, nothing profound to learn about the flavor play: Simple & good, one for lovers of dry drinks and Agricole Vieux friends, something you don’t find too many drinks with otherwise. The individual parts form a nice arrangement here, a kind of grassy and nutty/woody R(h)um Manhattan with the necessary dry fruit sweetness from the Aperol.
People for whom this sounds interesting should definitely test it. Playing with different sherries and rhums in particular can be very rewarding here. Cheers!
