I'll quote directly from PUNCH, as it summarizes the whole thing well: “This rum drink was created for a ‘Yacht Rock Sundays’ blog event. A small amount of maraschino liqueur helps accent the caramel of the rum and the nuttiness of the Madeira.”

A nice drink that shows Madeira in an unusual combination. Refreshing, light thanks to the high Madeira and juice content, yet with a certain depth thanks to the maraschino and rum, which can also be something even stronger than the Angostura recommended in the original recipe, in my humble opinion.
