Recipe:

- 45ml Monkey 47 gin (originally Monkey 47 Experimental 2y06)

- 20ml Amontillado sherry

- 15ml honey syrup (3:1)

- 15ml cloudy, unsweetened apple juice

Shake all the ingredients on ice until sufficiently chilled. Fine strain into a prechilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a mint leaf.

A very nice gin cocktail with apple juice, which is otherwise not so common (and when it is used in recipes, it often doesn't work well).

No other source is mentioned on DiffordsGuide, but judging from the style of the drink, it could indeed have been created by Mr. Difford himself. It would fit, since he often creates one for brands at events and this one is actually listed at DG with the Monkey 47 Experimental Series 2y06, so it might have been created for that bottling in particular. Although he usually also lists himself as the source. So, who knows? Anyway, a wonderful drink even with normal Monkey 47, refreshing, silky, minty-appley and apple juice is really a rather difficult ingredient in drinks. The specific choice of gin is most critical here, Monkey would be important or at least something close in taste. If necessary, something similarly greenish and refreshing with mint and pine notes, hence the mint leaf as a garnish.
