Recipe:

- 45ml straight rye whiskey

- 15ml Chartreuse Jaune

- 15ml Cherry Heering

- 5ml Fernet Branca

Stir for at least 25-30 seconds on ice (some nice dilution is key here), strain into your prechilled cocktail glass, garnish with a maraschino cherry.

The modern cocktail fan is somewhat skeptical of cocktails with cherry liqueur. I thought in advance with some recipes I tried, that they will be probably too sweet for me with today's taste habits and yes, in 1 or 2 cases I would reduce the proportion slightly (!), but overall they were all well balanced.

But more specifically about the Made Man: Noticeably spicy, mediterranean herbs, mint, dried cherry and cinchona bark in the nose. Tasting it, everything is a nice coherent unit, herbaceous, but also fresh and slightly fruity, the cherry not at all particularly sweet, as the herbs and freshness overlay it, very nicely balanced, cherry is rather discreetly there as in a great filled chocolate, mint, spices and a touch of dark chocolate and licorice. One of my favorites with cherry liqueur.
