Recipe:

- 45ml rye

- 15ml apple brandy

- 7.5ml maple syrup

- 2 dashes Angostura bitters

- 2 dashes walnut bitters

Stir on ice for about 15 seconds, strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube, garnish with an apple slice.

One of my favorite OF variants of recent years, discovered on one of my favorite cocktail blogs, TuxedoNo2. An ideal balance of nuts, apple, baking spices in the nose, in the mouth the warming star anise and clove of the Angostura Bitters, walnut, baked apple, maple syrup only delicately in the background and well integrated, some toffee and oak also show up. The apple slice as garnish fits well and gives in the nose again a little freshness to it as a counterpoint.
