Sleeping Lotus
Recipe:
- 60ml dry gin
- 30ml orgeat
- 22.5ml lemon juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- 12-15 mint leaves
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the mint. Add ice and shake until chilled, about 10 seconds. Strain into a Zombie or collins glass filled with crushed ice and stir to incorporate. Top with more crushed ice. Garnish with an edible orchid and a mint sprig.
An easy, nice summer drink that I took from the "Easy Tiki" book and is not one of my favourite drinks from it, simply because it is not particularly complex. But it still gets a recommendation to try, especially in hot temperatures.
It's more or less an Army & Navy on crushed ice and with some nice mint, with fresh juniper notes (the gin can certainly be more intense here, I would always go with Navy Strength myself), orgeat, citrus and mint, no surprises, but well balanced. And it looks nice.
